E-Pal...
It's Much More than a Pen Pal Program
Your sponsor child is waiting to tell you about how
the flooded river made it difficult for him
to move the oxen to the field this morning.
He wants to tell you that he climbed his
first coconut tree to gather coconuts to
sell near the market. He's waiting to learn
about what it is like to fly in an airplane,
the name of your dog, even what you ate for
breakfast!
Wouldn't this be much
better in your e-mail inbox than some old
stale jokes and SPAM mail?
If you think so and
would enjoy writing to your sponsor child in Cambodia, then
sign up for our E-Pal program!
NCLO's E-Pal
program is much more than just a pen pal
program. The purpose of NCLO's E-Pal program
is to support the development of basic
verbal, written, and technology
communication skills, enabling the students
to learn about and develop friendships with
others from different cultures through the
sharing of information and letter writing.
Children advance through three certification
levels of skills, with the goal being to eventually be able to
type emails directly into laptop computers
to communicate with their E-Pals around the
world.
Every month
children attend E-Pal class. The first hour
and a half of class they learn and practice new
skills. The last half hour of class is spent
using their new skills to write to their
E-Pals.
Being an
E-Pal costs $15 quarterly or $60 annually.
Once we have received your first donation,
we will notify you that you are set up in
our system. You may begin writing right away
by logging into WORKS.
Please note that
children only write to their E-Pals in
response to having received a letter.
Letters received through WORKS by the 21st
of each month will be answered in in the
following month's E-Pal class... unless the
child is absent.
It's the beginning to
a connection you won't soon forget.
